Let's cut the crap about what you can't do and talk about what you absolutely CAN.
Before being co-named Choir Student of the Year moment in my life, I'd spent years hiding in the back row of choir, convinced my voice wasn't worth hearing. I'd actually written "just don't mess up" on my hand before every performance—as if being invisible was the highest achievement I could aim for.
My high school choir teacher? That woman saw something in me when I was walking around with my head down. She didn't just believe in me—she practically grabbed me by the shoulders and said "WAKE UP TO YOUR OWN POTENTIAL."
Picture this: Me, shocked stupid, clutching that Choir Student of the Year award while the girl with perfect pitch and far more many accolades stood next to me. That single moment when my teacher locked eyes with me and nodded—that's when everything clicked.
Her belief didn't just make me feel good—it literally rewired my brain for life. In the years after this event, which is over 30 and counting, I’ve found myself becoming more bold and vocal. There I was speaking up in meetings, finding myself auditioning for an adult women’s chorus (of which now I am a member), and eventually building a business around my voice. One moment of being truly seen changed my entire trajectory.
LISTEN UP:
What's behind you doesn't get to decide what's ahead of you.
Those embarrassing mistakes? Congrats, you've got lessons most people pay thousands for. Those old fears? They're just receipts showing how far you've come. Your history? It's not the ceiling—it's the floor you're standing on to reach higher.
You aren't trapped in who you were. You are EXACTLY who you decide to become.
So what the hell would happen if you stopped looking in the rearview mirror and just floored it forward? No apologies, no hesitation, no more of that "maybe I shouldn't" bullshit?
The universe doesn't just listen when you do this—it rolls out the red carpet.
